Central team tours Koraput, Gajapati

A four-member central team led by joint secretary, home ministry, G K Dwivedi on Tuesday visited Gajapati and Koraput districts to assess the damage caused by cyclone Hudhud, which hit Andhra Pradesh coast on October 12.

BHUBANESWAR: A four-member central team led by joint secretary, home ministry, G K Dwivedi on Tuesday visited Gajapati and Koraput districts to assess the damage caused by cyclone Hudhud, which hit Andhra Pradesh coast on October 12.
Sources in the special relief commissioner office said one group of the central team visited R Udyagiri, Mandala Sahi, Jiranga and Jalanga in Gajapati to take stock of the damage and the other toured the worst-affected Pottangi block in Koraput .

The team discussed relief operations during the disaster with the affected people and later held a meeting with the district administration on the extent of damage, official sources said. "We will selectively visit some of the affected areas in four to five districts. After that we would submit our report to the Centre," said an official in the team.
The team is scheduled to visit Malkangiri and Rayagada on Wednesday. Hudhud caused extensive damage to Bonda hills, inhabited by particularly vulnerable tribal group, in Malkangiri, an officer said. After field visit, the team is scheduled to meet chief secretary G C Pati at the secretariat here, the officer added.
