Blackhawks recall Nordstrom, Clendening

The Chicago Blackhawks recalled forward Joakim Nordstrom and defenseman Adam Clendening from the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL on Tuesday.

Nordstrom, 22, was reassigned to the IceHogs on Monday to maximize their cap space before placing defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk on long-term injured reserve. Nordstrom was recalled Saturday and played 12:15 of ice time against the Dallas Stars on Sunday. He has five goals and three assists in 14 games for the IceHogs this season. He has one goal and two assists in 17 career NHL games.

Clendening, 22, has one goal, three assists and is a minus-2 in 16 games for the IceHogs this season. He led the IceHogs in points last season. He has been recalled before, but has yet to appear in an NHL regular-season game. The Blackhawks selected him in the second round of the 2011 draft.

The Blackhawks have 13 healthy forwards and seven defensemen on their roster.
