Women were foraying into all the domains, competing equally with men, but not many of them write competitive examination books for Telugu aspirants of civil services, Groups and other examinations.

A 45-year-old woman government degree lecturer of Ramannapet Degree College in the district, Sunakara Ramadevi, completed the mammoth task of translating the Indian Constitution into Telugu in two-and-a-half years.

Born and brought up in Suryapet, Ms. Ramadevi completed her masters in Political Science, and Education, from Osmania University.

Speaking to The Hindu , Ms.Ramadevi said that while preparing to Group-I services, working as government teacher in Nalgonda, I prepared detailed notes and that’s when I got the idea of publishing the notes in a book format in Telugu as I saw Telugu aspirants were finding it difficult to find suitable material for competitive examinations.

She co-authored the book on Indian Polity with another senior political science teacher, Krishna Reddy, in 2008, but she always wanted to bring an improved book on her own despite the over 400 page book being a hit in the market.

Ms. Ramdevi started preparing the material for her new book in March 2012 and completed the task in October 2014, which was released in to market recently. Central Information Commissioner, Madabushi Sridhar, who wrote foreword for the 1,632 page book, lauded Ms. Ramadevi’s efforts saying the book written in simple language, is a comprehensive one on Indian Constitution when compared to the ones available in market.

President of Indian Political Science Association Prof. Gopal Reddy, Head of the Department of Political Science, Prof. P. Muthaiah, and IAS officer V. Nagi Reddy, who also wrote foreword to the book, lauded her efforts saying that the book is a perfect solution to the difficulties being faced by Telugu students while preparing for examinations. A faculty member, Chaitanya, who teaches Indian Polity in Nalgonda and Hyderabad, said that students prefer the book as it is written with good number of examples, and bit questions given at the end of each chapter test the skills of students.
