Smita Bansal back on TV for a cameo

The former Balika Vadhu actress says that she’s open to doing cameos, but doesn’t want to do full-time TV right now
Smita Bansal back on TV for a cameo
After a hiatus of six months from television, actress Smita Bansal will be back on the small screen in a cameo. Smita, who quit Balika Vadhu in May, will play Akbar’s second wife in the show Akbar Birbal, making this her first comedy outing on television.
Confirming the news, Smita says, “I am doing a cameo in the show, which is a comic take on the much-loved childhood folk tales.
I will play the role of Umrao, and it is sure to tickle the audience’s funny bone.” Unlike some actors who are hesitant to accept cameos in films and television, Smita says, “I am in no mood to do full-fledged television at the moment. For years, I have enjoyed working for 12 hours a day. Now, I can’t cope with hectic shooting schedules, long hours, etc. I want to spend some quality time with my family. In fact, cameos are the best option right now, as regular work is not possible for me. But after working for such a long period, sitting idle at home is difficult too. So I will be seen on TV on and off. This way I will have time for my family as well.”

After quitting Balika Vadhu, Smita has also been doing a lot of theatre. “Acting is my passion and I can never stop acting. After Balika Vadhu, I got busy with theatre. I have been travelling all across the country for my shows and this kept me busy as well as happy,” she says.
Smita was also in Jaipur a couple of months ago for one of her plays. She says, “I wish I could live in Jaipur forever. If I ever have the opportunity to settle down anywhere other than Mumbai, Jaipur will be the first and last choice for me. I miss it so much. That is one reason that I love coming to Jaipur every now and then. If you happen to see my house in Mumbai, you will find so many things from the Pink City, be it curtains, bedsheets or something else. Whenever I am there, I ensure that I visit Bapu Bazaar and Nehru Bazaar for shopping.”
