After his forgetful tour of England, Virat  Kohli has worked a lot on his game. His demeanour on the field is new and refreshing.

Known to be a man wearing attitude on his sleeves. One can easily make out from his post match interviews that give a clear insight into his mindset, he has become a much calmer and individual and certainly tamed his temper.

And to everyone’s amazement, he seems to have become a more mature individual. Most importantly he has learnt to accept and forget the failures and bad patches he has come across.

On being asked about his poor from at the start of the West Indies series in Kochi acknowledged that ‘god has been kind to me’ over the past few years but the recent times haven’t been very pleasing.

Not only has Kohli done away with his bad form but also his volatile attitude, something that has helped his game.

Festive offer

India were cruising at 150/2 in 25 overs but suddenly lost thier, way losing five wickets in the span of 16 overs.

When the need of the hour was to play calm Stuart Binny came down the track to Mendis and found himself short of the crease. Kohli didn’t like that.

During this shaky period when wickets tumbled, Kohli stood firm and didn’t lose his cool. His character was well and truly tested as his team-mates deserted him. India looked like they were going to miss the opportunity to go for the 5-0 whitewash.

For Kohli, the guilt of running out an in-form Ambati Rayudu must have been getting heavier with every fallen wicket. But the Delhi lad kept a cool head on his shoulders and held things together for his team

His match winning innings in Ranchi was testimony of his temperament. He displayed controlled aggression rather than going all out.

Kohli made 329 runs in five innings in the recently concluded series at No. 4 slot and looked a man determined to see his team through.

He looked fluent as usual when he started,  putting away wide deliveries outside off stump at will. He ended the innings with a helicopter shot in Dhoni’s hometown.

This steely resolve was seldom expected from a brash young 25-year old who has risen through the ranks in Indian cricket at phenomenal pace.

India will be flying to Australia for an all important tour ahead of the World Cup and Kohli will be watched closely by fans and certainly by the opposition.
