CUTTACK: Orissa high court on Monday rejected a plea of former minister and senior BJD leader Rabi Narayan Nanda, seeking amendment to his election petition. The plea was filed challenging election of Congress candidate Tara Prasad Bahinipati from Jeypore assembly constituency.
"Justice Biswanath Rath also imposed a cost of Rs 5,000 on Nanda for filing the amendment plea after lapse of the stipulated period," said Bahinipati's lawyer Pitambar Acharya.

He said according to law, any petition raising objection to election should be filed within 45 days of publication of poll results. The election results were out on May 16 and Nanda moved court on June 24, raising objection to election of Bahinipati.
