The Vasai sessions court on Monday sentenced three youths to life imprisonment for killing another boy with beer bottles after a brawl. The deceased gave a dying declaration, leading to the conviction. Another accused is absconding.

A minor conversation led to the assault. On 15 April 2012, Niraj Singh was attacked by Rahim Khan, Roshan Thakur and Ramchandra Yadav, all in their mid 20s. The incident occurred in Santosh Bhuvan bar at Nallasopara East. The wanted accused is named Sandeep Yadav. They went to celebrate their victory in a cricket match and got into an argument. The main accused, Khan, assaulted Singh with a beer bottle and glasses, and Singh sustained severe injuries on his neck, chest and abdomen. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment, where he managed to name the four attackers.

"Seventeen witnesses were examined. As per the evidence and the dying declaration, the court found them guilty. The fingerprints on the weapon revealed that Khan attacked Singh," said Ujwala Moholkar, public prosecutor.

The sessions court judge SG Mehere sentenced the three to life imprisonment.
