Questioning the validity of the trust vote secured by the Devendra Fadnavis government, the Shiv Sena attacked the BJP, saying the minority government had earned a lot of hostility by its dalliance with the NCP for the sake of power.

The Shiv Sena, which finds itself in a piquant situation—it is part of the Narendra Modi led dispensation at the Centre while occupying the role of the principal opposition party in Maharashtra, alleged that like the Congress, the BJP's government too would be run via orders from Delhi.

"To please Modi, Baramati Sharadbabu (Sharad Pawar) took up the broom, but what did he clean in the end? This is the question troubling the people of Maharashtra," said an editorial on Monday in the Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamna, referring to Pawar and his family members participating in the 'Swach Bharat Abhiyan'.

"Regardless of what anyone says, the flowery language of the new era which had emerged in Maharashtra was reduced to garbage on the first day of the special session of the legislature. The number of abuses which the new government faced after the farce of the vote of confidence far outnumbered the barrage of abuses that the Congress- NCP government had attracted in the last 15 years. By which broom will the peoples' dreams, aspirations which were reduced to garbage in the first week itself be swept away?" the Shiv Sena questioned.

"There has been a change of regime in the state but this has been propped up on the corrupt bamboos of the NCP," the editorial said, while questioning if the Fadnavis cabinet had the moral right to watch dreams of Maharashtra's development.

The Sena said many "vultures which were pecking at Maharashtra's unity were sitting on the branches and many of them were in positions of power and were dreaming of reducing Mumbai's importance. The Shiv Sena's need and importance was felt in such times."

It said that while the Sena and Thackeray Sr had worked to protect people from other denominations like Gujaratis, Marwadis and Hindi speakers, they had chosen to desert the Sena and due to regional considerations. The editorial questioned when Maharashtrians would show a similar hardline attitude.
