COIMBATORE: BJP general secretary of Coimbatore south district A Jayaraman was killed in an accident after a college bus rammed into his car at Komarapalayam in Namakkal district on Monday morning. He was sitting in the front seat when the mishap occurred.
According to police, Jayaraman, 64, of Valparai was travelling to Krishnagiri from the city to participate in an auction conducted by a nationalised bank.
The car was driven by his driver K Muthukumar, 26, of Valparai and another driver J Prasad, 24, of Cinchona estate at Valparai was sitting in the rear seat of the car.

When the car reached Gowri Theatre at Komarapalayam, a speeding bus that belonged to Vellalar College from Erode, rammed into his car. Jayaraman, who was sitting in the front seat, died on the spot. Both drivers sustained injuries and were rushed to Komarapalayam Government Hospital for treatment.
Another college student Sasikala, 20, of Komarapalayam who was sitting in the bus, sustained minor injuries and was admitted at a private hospital in Salem. The body was taken to Erode Government Hospital for postmortem. Later, the body was handed over to the relatives of the deceased. Komarapalayam police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
