College canteens have a unique charm of their own. And such is the love saga of canteens and the students that they are the symbols of zest of these young hearts.
Here’s taking you for a dekko of these fun zones:
NID
-Food Fiesta: The design institute’s menu has a long list of chatpatta savouries from panipuri, dosa, egg frankie, chicken puff to hakka noodles, biryani, chicken curry and rice and much more along with varied hot and cold beverages.
- Price Range: The price range is between `5 to `50.
- Popular on the menu: No hot favourites actually in this list.
- Favourite spot: Though there isn’t any special spot, students usually enjoy sitting outside while munching on some crispy delights.
HLIC
- Food Fiesta: From road side savories, fixed thali, to fresh fruit juices the options are varied here.
- Price Range: The price of various dishes ranges between `10 to `75

- Popular on the menu: Cheese butter noodles, CTC sandwich and fried paneer are few of the most popular dishes.
- Favourite spot: As long as you have your buddies any place is a good place.
Nirma
- Food Fiesta: From South Indian to Punjabi, various vegetarian dishes are available along with fresh juices, tea and coffee.
- Price Range: The price of dishes vary between `10 to `80
- Popular on the menu: Grilled sandwiches, Chinese dishes and fresh fruit juices are much popular.
- Favourite spot: The pharmacy canteen is a hit as the food comes at a reasonable price (quality included) and the ambience is quite serene.
MICA
- Food Fiesta: The canteen here offers a wide range of dishes. From veg burgers to chicken burgers, chicken cheese frankie, utthappam, various kinds of noodles and spicy Indian savouries like poha samosa, cheese garlic bread toast, aloo tikki and even french fries, it also serves beverages like cold coffee, hot cocoa, nimboo pani, hot/cold bournvita.
- Price Range: The price range is between `8 to `100
- Popular on the menu: The names of dishes here are just as creative as the students themselves. One of the most popular dish is the Chatur Thali, named after an ex-student named Chaturvedi, who came up with the idea of serving ajwain paranthas with crispy jeera aloo, which soon became a hot favourite. Other similar dishes named after students who came up with innovative dishes like ‘Uchil’ burger, ‘Anand’ fried rice and ‘Aneesh’ paranthas.
- Favourite spot: For many, the ledge next to the counter where food and drinks get served is a hot spot as it is one of the busiest spot at Chota Canteen. Another spot is the center tree where one can see the beautiful view of the graffiti the students have painted across the walls.
St Xavier's College
- Food fiesta: Xavierites enjoy a variety of dishes right from the street side vada pav to crispy and feisty chicken hotdog, all in their campus. Their menu has many options, including hot and cold beverages along with bottled juices.
- Price Range: All items are priced between `10 and `50.
- Popular on the menu: Though the humble bread omelette is a favourite, what really sells like hot cakes are the special chicken cutlets.
- Favourite spot: A unanimous favourite spot near the canteen where everyone can enjoy the lip-smacking

National Institute of Fashion Technology
- Food fiesta: The canteen serves a fixed meal menu which includes rice, roti, naan, two sabji, two daal with curd and salad. Wednesdays and Fridays are special meal days as the students can indulge in lip-smacking egg curry and chicken curry. Hot and cold beverages are also available here.
- Price Range: Annual fees are paid which include all the expenses of the meal throughout the year.
- Popular on the menu: Well, you have guessed it right. Wednesdays and Fridays are most looked forward to (you know the reasons).
- Favourite spot: The college authorities have given students the freedom to draw graffiti on the wall of the canteen, making the ambience more colorful and vibrant.
CEPT University
- Food fiesta: From sev usal to veggie rolls, wafers, muffins, chiki, shakkarpara and even granola bars, this canteen has a lot to offer. Beverages include four variants of tea: iced, regular, cutting and black with specials like cranberry juice.
- Price Range: All items are priced between `10 and `80.
- Popular on the menu: The ‘ulta pulta’, a toasted butter bread that is grilled to perfection to give it that extra crunch, is the most popular item here. The grilled sandwich with a mix of ingredients is also much in demand.
- Favourite spot: The chotu canteen is a hotspot with a seating arrangement in the open, serving delicious food with a smile.
