Goa gets its own spiritual renewal centre
Old Goa:Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao blessed and inaugurated the renovated spiritual renewal centre atop the Boa Vista hillock on Monday evening.
A large congregation from across the state participated in the Eucharistic service at Cruz dos Milagres church with the archbishop as the main celebrant and 200 priests as concelebrants. The cost of the project which included restoration and renovation of the church and structures attached to it and construction of a new facility block cost 20 crore.
The fourth phase is in progress after completion of the first three. As of now, it can accommodate 300 people in rooms plus dormitories. The centre will start functioning fully after the 17th Exposition of the Sacred Relics of St Francis Xavier. Deputy chief minister Francis D’Souza and his wife were also present. The choir at the mass was from Se Cathedral.
The archbishop thanked all the parishes which contributed generously and government authorities for extending a helping hand.
The completion of the project will fulfill a long-felt need of Goa archdiocese for a spiritual renewal centre of its own. This was the very site where Blessed Joseph Vaz had lived before he embarked on his mission to Sri Lanka.
