Being Human” star Sam Huntington is set to topline independent comedy feature “Finding Sofia,” directed by Nico Casavecchia and produced by 1stAveMachine.

Principal photography begins Monday in Argentina.

The film is a fish-out-of-water comedy about self-acceptance with Huntington portraying a young filmmaker who makes a rash decision and buys a ticket to Buenos Aires to pay a surprise visit to Sofía, a mysterious girl he met on the Internet. Once he arrives, he discovers that Sofia lives with her artist boyfriend and his assistant.

Andrea Carballo is playing the titular Sofia.

The team of 1stAveMachine producers includes Serge Patzak, Sam Penfield, Arvind Palep, Malu Rodriguez, Adam Koblenz and Andrew Geller. The company is also developing “Prosthesis” at Universal Studios and the non-fiction TV series “ThingamaBob” on the History Channel’s H2 network.

Huntington’s credits include “Superman Returns” and the “Veronica Mars” movie.
