Knowledge of different computer platforms will help in boosting the employability of individuals — whether, students or young professionals.
It is no surprise then that the search for computer training avenues has doubled in the past year.
According to a study by Sulekha.com, there has been a 171 per cent increase in online searches for Android application development training and a 116 per cent increase in engineering-related computer training.
The study analysed over 2 lakh user needs from eight cities.
Although a majority of people looking for computer courses are from tier-I cities like Chennai and Bengaluru, the interest in these courses from tier-II cities is also increasing, the survey says.
While there are a number of courses available, the most commonly-sought are Android application development, Java, web designing, AutoCAD, C++, embedded systems and CAD & CAM training.
“With the imminent accelerated growth in mobility and connectivity, we expect an explosive demand for newer training programmes such as Android application training,” says Satya Prabhakar, founder & CEO, Sulekha.com.
According to a senior human resources manager at an IT firm, computer training is always an advantage for job applicants.
“When we see an application from a student or a professional who is able to work on multiple platforms, we are more likely to consider their case,” he says.
