The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had earlier announced that Ajmal’s stay in Leicester had been extended for another week as the spinner’s unofficial tests conducted at the Loughborough University suggested that though he has improved his bowling action dramatically, there was still work to be done to bring his deliveries to within the allowed limit of 15 degrees.
However, Hurrion, an English and Wales Cricket Board Level-IV qualified coach and current director at the Quintic Consultancy Limited, will guide Ajmal to further fine tune his action.
“Saqlain has worked with Ajmal back here in Pakistan so the purpose of extending his stay in Leicester is to enable him to work with Hurrion,” said a senior PCB official.
“Obviously Saqlain will continue his work with the bowler as well but Hurrion, a top biomechanist who understands how the human body functions, can provide some important tips.”
It has also been learnt that Ajmal’s flex has minimised substantially to 22-25 degrees as compared to the findings of the official test, which revealed it to be 40.
The 37-year-old has claimed 178 wickets in 35 Tests and 183 in 111 ODIs, while he has also taken 85 wickets from 63 outings in T20Is.
