BHOPAL: Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh leads in implementation of Prime Minister's Jan-Dhan Yojana with cent percent banking coverage, a government release said on Saturday.
With the cooperation of district administration and banks, 3,95,101 families were linked with banks during last three months, said an official release. Earlier, 2,74,299 families had bank accounts in the district.
During the drive following announcement of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 1,20,802 bank accounts were opened. Now, no family in Ujjain district is without a bank account. So far, banks have provide RuPay Cards to 65,592 families.
Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has congratulated Ujjain collector Kavindra Kiyawat and B M Jauhari, district manager of lead bank, Bank of India for the achievement.
Bank accounts are to be opened under the scheme by January 26, next year.
According to the scheme, bank account of any one member of family is opened under Jan-Dhan Yojana to link every family with banking facility. RuPay cards are provided to all account holders.
