Minor rapes 9-yr-old

VADODARA: A nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Gotri area of the city by a minor boy. The accused also threatened the girl as well as her friend who witnessed the episode.
The rape took place in Ramdevnagar area on Friday afternoon. The survivor who used to study in a municipal school went to the residence of a friend living in the same area and was raped there.
The girl had left her home in the afternoon and went to an open space near Gotri pond to play with other children in the locality. She and another friend then left to play at the latter's house. The accused is believed to have seen the two girls go inside the house where nobody else was present.
"The accused followed the girls inside the house and then took the victim to an enclosure behind the house where a cot was lying. He forced himself on the victim there," said inspector M I Pathan.
The mother of the survivor's friend was at home while the crime was being committed. She later informed parents of the girl that she had been assaulted following which the matter was reported to the police.
The accused boy had escaped when he was spotted raping the girl. "He did not reach home and is on the run. But we have concrete information and will nab him soon," said Pathan.
