College student gunned down in Pindi

Rawalpindi - A college student was gunned down by two unknown assailants here on 6th Road within the limits of Police Station (PS) New Town on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Sanaullah and he was a resident of Singal area of Gilgit-Baltistan. He was a student of FSc at a local college. According to police, two unknown persons came and opened indiscriminate firing on Sanaullah as he stepped out of the college. As a result, the student sustained critical injuries. Rescue 1122 shifted the victim to Benazir Bhutto Hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries. The assailants fled the scene after committing the crime. An investigation officer said the deceased received two bullets in his neck and chest. Superintendent of Police Rawal Division, Karamat Malik, when contacted, said that suspected killers were also from Gilgit and they had an old enmity with the deceased family. A case has been registered against the suspected killers. He said that police were conducting raids to nab the killers.
The firing incident swelled a wave of panic in the college and surrounding areas. The people protested against area police saying, “New Town police have failed to control crime.” Nazir, a student, said that killers and looters had been moving freely and police could not arrest them on check posts. He appealed to the chief minister Punjab to take action against police for their failure
 to provide protection to the citizens.
