TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A special Colombian coffee bean is selected by J.Cofee to be featured on the cafe’s menu list. Cofee beans originating from different paces are usually have different characters of aroma, cafeine content, flavor, or acidity. Colombian coffee bean is considered one of the best origins for an arabica variant.
Compared to robusta, arabica species are richer in flavor and variety. Each variety has unique characteristic. It fisrt introduced in Colombia, the second largest coffee producing country after Brazil, in 1800.
“The aroma is like tobacco, its smokier and not bitter,” said Putra Andrean, Head of Specialist J.Coffee when met in Senayan City, Jakarta, Thursday, November 13.
The second child of Johnny Andrean and Tina Andrean claimed he selected the fresh Colombian beans aged several weeks.
“If the beans are fresh, the coffee tasted strong. But if it is old beans, it will become flat-flavored,” said Putra.
J.Coffee Senayan CIty has been offering single origin Colombia Coffee for the past two days. The ‘single origin’ means that the beans are not mixed with other type of coffee.
“I have been to several international and local coffee shops. Most of them opt to serve bitter-tasted coffee. In fact, there are many flavors on coffee that can be brought out, such as furity and its acidity,” Putra added.
“Coffee is better when you drink it without sugar, but not too bitter, of course.”
Putra got into the world of coffee after being involved in his father's coffee business. He specially learnt from Alejandro Mendez, a world-class barista from El Salvador.
J.Coffee has now 35 variants of beverages to offer including those made of coffee, chocolate, and fruits.
