‘The Big Bang Theory’s’ Kunar Nayyar Named One Of The Best-Known Persons In The World

The Big Bang Theory’s Kunal Nayyar was named “one of the best-known persons in the world” by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Sooni Taraporevala. Taraporevala was sharing her thoughts on Nayyar being cast for the upcoming film Three And A Half, directed by herself and produced by Mira Nair.

“Mira and I met Kunal in L.A., told him the story, showed him some images, sent him the script and he was on. I was ecstatic. He is a lovely person, a fabulous actor and I feel blessed that one of the best-known people in the world is going to star in my film.”

The Hollywood Reporter published an article in which Taraporevala gave fans an idea of the character Nayyar will play in Three And A Half.

“In ‘Three and a Half,’ he will be playing a very different character than what he is known for in ‘The Big Bang Theory.’ ‘Three and a Half’ is both a love story and a political thriller, and Kunal will be playing Kabir, a revolutionary on a mission.”

Nayyar, who plays Dr. Raj Koothrappali in The Big Bang Theory, seems very humbled by the opportunity to star in a film produced and directed by Mira Nair and Sooni Taraporevala.

“Both Mira And Sooni have been instrumental in inspiring me to be an actor,” Nayyar told the Hollywood Reporter. “Watching their movies growing up, I realized it was possible to be an Indian artist and still be put on the world stage. I am humbled and honored to be part of this incredible movie that once again will traverse cultures and languages to tug at the heart strings of audiences around the world. I am also excited to undertake a role that will both challenge and stretch my range as an actor.”

Nayyar, who recently appeared in the Canadian film Dr. Cabbie, has been making strides in his acting career. Last year, just in time for the Cricket World Cup that was held in his homeland India, he co-produced and voiced a cricket documentary, Beyond All Boundaries.

The Big Bang Theory star and cast members also lost a cast member this week. Actress Carol Ann Susi, who played the mother of Simon Helberg’s character, Howard Wolowitzhas, died after a battle with cancer. She was 62-years-old. CNN reported that the show’s executive producer released a statement praising the late actress.

The Inquisitr earlier reported that Nayyar and his Big Bang Theory cast members paid tribute to Susi at the end of Thursday night’s show with a title card which showed a picture of the late actress and words which reminded fans of her sense of humor.
