Fair price shops in Ahmedabad to go on strike against errors in biometric system

Fair Price Shop owners today said they will go on strike from Sunday and not open their shops until errors in biometric system are fixed.

A meeting of about 900 Fair Price Shop owners was held at Ahmedabad’s Tagore hall today in presence of Food and Civil Supply department officials from Gandhinagar. However, in the middle of this meeting, shop owners demanded that biometric system should be put on hold till the time, errors and other issues related to the system are totally fixed. Shop keepers said that they face anger of people due to errors in biometric system.They said they want to deal with consumers cordially, but poor implementation of biometric system is causing trouble.

Head of the union of Fair Price Shop owners, and brother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shri Prahlad Modi told media persons that shop keepers are not against biometric system, but they demand solution of errors in biometric system. First the government should resolve the issues related to this system and only then after it should be implemented.

Prahlad Modi said the shop owners have decided to stop distribution from today onwards in Ahmedabad.
