Lahore - The incident of blazing passenger coaches at Raiwind was an attempt to push Railways towards decline while the incident was a conspiracy against the department and the country.
These views were expressed by PR Employees (Prem) Union vice president Sheikh M Anwar in a meeting held at PR headquarters union office here on Friday.
He said terrorists wanted to keep passengers away from traveling by trains that was why they were blazing railway boggies at different places. He said that Federal Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, PR labourers and officers were jointly struggling for the restoration of department but some nefarious forces did not like Pakistan Railways to progress. He demanded of Prime Minister Muhammad nawaz Sharif to direct all provincial governments to cooperate with the PR police for protecting trains, stations and other departmental infrastructure, adding the railways’ workers were struggling day and night for the betterment of the department but need support of the governments. Anwar said that passengers, who were using other mode of transportation, are returning to the trains due to better service. He demanded urgent investigation of the incident so that culprits should be brought before the courts.
Sh Anwar said the government should provide latest weapons and patrolling vehicles for the protection of staff, trains and assets.
