Twink ‘released’ from Limerick Christmas panto

Panto queen Twink has been "released" from her role in the upcoming Limerick Christmas pantomine.

The 63-year-old will not be appearing as scheduled in the University Concert Hall’s Jack and the Beanstalk Christmas Panto after being released from her role due to “contractual and artistic differences”, according to a statement issued today.

The entertainer - whose real name is Adele King - raised eyebrows at the recent launch of the panto when she arrived late.

Numerous requests by media for an interview with the performer were made but she was not available for interviews, unlike at previous launches.

Unlike in previous years the star did not address the press conference, as organisers insisted she was running late.

The star eventually posed for photos with her beloved dog Teddy at King John’s Castle for the launch.

The miniature Yorkshire Terrier, who was the subject of a recent “dognapping” incident, was also due to star in the show.

The entertainer was due to feature in her third straight panto in Limerick under producer and long-time friend Robert C Kelly.

A statement issued today read: “This year’s panto, Jack & The Beanstalk, will no longer feature Adele King, who has been released from her role as Dame due to contractual and artistic differences.”

A spokesperson for University Concert Hall said they had no further comment to make.

Fair City star George McMahon features in the panto as the titular character, alongside TV3 presenter Leanne Moore as his love interest Jill.

It’s not yet known who will take over Twink’s role as Jack’s mother, but a further announcement is expected.
