Surbhi is Sundeep Kishan's best friend in Beeruva
Surbhi Puranik's tryst with films began last year when she made her debut in Vikram Prabhu-starrer Ivan Veramathiri, which was dubbed in Telugu as Citizen; but the actress confesses that she always dreamt of acting. I was so obsessed with films that I used to imitate actresses as long as I can remember. Once I got into college, I began auditioning for films and that's how my acting career began, says the actress, who grew up in Delhi.
She has just graduated with a degree in fine arts. Apart from films, I am really interested in paintings. I love drawing caricatures, sketches about daily life of people and oil paintings, she says.
Awaiting the release of her debut film in Telugu, Beeruva where she is acting with Sundeep Kishan, she says,We were supposed to work in another Tamil film; however, that didn't happen. And one fine day, he asked me to do an audition for this Telugu film. Kanmani, the director, had already seen my performance in my Tamil film and I suited the characterization he had in mind, Surbhi recalls, adding, I was thrilled when Kanmani narrated the script and I really liked the concept of a beeruva (almirah) being the hero's best friend. I have played a very naughty and innocent character, which has a lot of shades, in the film. I am very excited about my debut.
