A special maha yagam was performed on the banks of the Cauvery in Srirangam on Thursday to invoke the blessings of Ranganathaswamy for the return of AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa as Chief Minister.

The yagam was performed at Amma Mandapam for about four hours by a group of Bhattachariars. Sri Ranga Narayana Jeer of Srirangam Jeer Mutt inaugurated it.

A large number of people witnessed the yagam organised by the AIADMK’s Information and Technology unit. Aspire’ K. Swaminathan, State secretary of the IT unit, said the yagam was a prayer for the restoration of Chief Ministership to Ms. Jayalalithaa.
