A Good Samaritan deed by an autorickshaw driver saved the day for a visitor to the city.

The driver, S. Kannan, helped locate a bag containing gold jewellery and cash belonging to Nilofer (60) of Tiruchi.

The woman, who had arrived at Perungalathur by private bus on Wednesday night, sat in the autorickshaw for a while, waiting for her relative.

Later, she left with him in his vehicle.

When she reached home, she realised her bag was missing and filed a complaint with Peerkankaranai police on Thursday morning.

Kannan, who was contacted by the police, searched for the bag along with other drivers – Shankar, Murali and Dhanraj.

They found it amid bushes along the railway track near Perungalathur station and handed it over to police.
