Anthony D’Souza, whose last outing was the Akshay Kumar starrer Boss, is now scripting his next for Balaji Motion Pictures — a biopic on Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin. The film that goes on floor next year will have Emraan Hashmi playing the lead.
“I was committed to do a film with Balaji and then this biopic worked out. I am scripting the story with Rajat Arora. But I want to clarify that I am not a great friend of Mohammad Azharuddin as reported. I only know him as an ardent fan. His story will make for a gripping film as he has had many ups and downs in his life. The film will cover his entire journey. Right now, we are not looking at highlighting anything in particular,” said D’Souza adding that he was in touch with the cricketer to know more about him.
Emraan Hashmi, who will be playing Azharuddin, will attend many workshops to get under the skin of the character. “Emraan is a very methodical actor and I know he will do everything to perfect his part.”
