UJJAIN: A squad of district education department paid surprise visits to 17 government schools in Kachrod on Wednesday and found 13 teachers and two peons absent from duty without putting any leave applications.
Higher Secondary School for boys at Unhel was found closed at 4.45 pm whereas there was no teacher at Zirniya village situated school till 11.30am.

Incharge district education officer (DEO) Rama Nahte said panchnama has been prepared and further action would be taken by the administration.
She said the absentee teachers would be fined with a day’s salary.
The department has formed a number of similar squads after reports poured in about teachers not performing their duties properly.
Joint director M S Rathore said the inspection drive would continue to identify guilty staff.
