GEORGE TOWN: At an age where one is looking forward to retirement, Nadzeri Mustaffa, 50, is training for a kayak expedition from Malaysia to Gaza, Palestine, some 800km away.
The man from Kedah said he expects to begin his Gaza quest sometime in 2016 and is doing this to raise awareness about the situation faced by the people there.
He hopes more organisations or charitable bodies can do their bit for those in Gaza.
"I am doing this for all Malaysians," he said this before beginning the last leg of his training programme from Batu Uban, here, to Langkawi, Kedah, about 160km away.
The father of three is expected to reach his destination on Nov 23.
He began his solo voyage of endurance on Sept 20, when he started paddling from Pengkalan Kubor, Kelantan.
A trader from Kuala Lumpur, Nadzeri said he has spent some RM20,000 of his own funds for this project.
He thanked those who supported him and hopes there will be more sponsors.
