My dream is to develop Kashmir as global premier tourist destination: Sajad Lone

KUPWARA, Nov 12: Sajad Gani Lone, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference, today said that in his recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he stressed the need to leverage the State’s natural resources and assets for cultivating them towards development of Kashmir.
“I underscored the need to seize the recent adversity as an opportunity and work towards the development of Kashmir as one of the most beautiful places in the world and a premiere global tourist destination”, he said while addressing a gathering on the occasion of joining of People’s Conference by a number of Congress and National Conference activists, here today.
He also identified the enormous scope for tourism in the area such as in the little known and presently inaccessible areas of the Bangus and Lolaab Valleys, LoC tourism and eco-tourism. He also requested the PM to look into the possibility of special recruitment for disadvantaged people from the hilly and border regions in the quota for Central jobs.
Mr Lone said that fed up with the rhetoric’s of traditional parties, people of the State were yearning for a change. “I am pleased to welcome all those who join in to the carvan of change envisioned by the People’s Conference. We are here to make a difference not just by our words but by our deeds to take the pace of the development to the next level”, he added.
Lone also stressed the need for construction of a 6 lane expressway from Srinagar to Kupwara in a bid to bridge the difference of both distance and opportunities and extend the railway link to Chowkibal, Kupwara.
Besides, he listed a number of others suggestions for access to opportunities, such as Health facilities in the form of Medical College, educational facilities, Central University etc.
On the occasion, more than 500 workers from NC and PDP joined People’s Conference in the presence of Advocate Bashir Ahmad Dar, contesting candidate from Kupwara and other senior party leaders.
