Chinese mid-cap stocks are climbing to record highs versus the nation’s largest companies on speculation international investors will snap up the shares when Shanghai’s exchange link with Hong Kong starts next week.

The CHART OF THE DAY tracks the performance of the SSE 380 Index of mid-cap equities against the FTSE China A50 Index of the biggest companies. The SSE 380 has rallied 26 percent since regulators announced plans for the program on April 10, more than double the 12 percent gain by the large-cap gauge.
