Stolen goods, food grains seized from flour mill

VADODARA: A team of special operations group (SOG) recovered stolen goods and illegally hoarded food grains from a flour mill in Govindnagar slums near New VIP Road on Tuesday. Police seized 20,000 kilograms of wheat, 1,650 kilograms of rice, 28 brass utensils, a grinding machine, 14 electric motors, two pumps and 105 bottles of liquor from Shiv Shakti Flour Mill amounting to Rs 4.73 lakh. During the raid, the police also seized liquor from a godown adjacent to the flour mill.
Two persons were arrested during the operation.
The police said the brass utensils, wires, electric motors and pumps were stolen from different places. The cops had received a tip-off that a flour mill had illegally stored grains and other stolen goods following which they conducted a raid. Those arrested have been identified as Vinodsinh Rajput and his brother Chetansinh Rajput, both residents of Rajiv Nagar on New VIP Road. Vinodsinh owns the flour mill while Rajput works for him. The illegally stored food grains were meant to be sold at ration shops.
“The brass utensils were stolen from a party plot two days ago. The wires, motors and pumps too are stolen items. We called the district supply office as we recovered illegally stocked food grains,” said SOG police inspector, Haresh Vora. Apart from the stolen items, the police also seized 105 bottles of India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from a godown located next to the flour mill. The godown too is owned by Rajput. While the brass utensils and the liquor amounted to Rs 2.69 lakhs, food grains, grinding machines and electric motor amounted to Rs 2.04 lakh.
