HUDA pipe repairs to hit water supply for 30 hours
GURGAON: Water supply in and around Basai Road, Sector 17 C and MDI will remain shut for about 30 hours starting Wednesday morning, as HUDA officials have ordered repair work of the pipelines in these three locations.
According to officials, residents will get the morning supply, after which it will be shut from 8 am till Thursday afternoon.
The repair work in these three sections of the pipe network will finally take place on Wednesday, where leakages, reported in the past one year gave residents a harrowing time, especially during summer months.

According to HUDA executive engineer V K Sheokand, five incidents of leakages and bursts were reported in the pipe network near Signature tower, running along National Highway-8, affecting supply to a large part of the city.
The repair work at these three locations will affect supply in sectors 12, 14, 15, 17, 18-40 and some parts of DLF, HUDA City Centre and around Ambience Mall. “However, supply to other parts of the city will not be affected,” said Sheokand.
The entire repair work is set to cost about Rs 13 lakh. “One repair will take place about 150 m from Basai Chowk on Basai Road, where welding will be done on an existing MS (mild steel) pipe running along the Sector 10 boundary wall,” said Sheokand. Repairs at the other two areas will involve replacement of a small segment of pipeline, among others.
“We had managed to restore the supply during summers when demand is high. Now, during winters when water demand is lower, we can make concrete changes, including changing existing pipes fitted with lead and replacing them with mild steel pipes, which are more durable and do not need much maintenance,” he added.
