Rajkot Railway honours alert station master for averting mishap

While performing his duty at Sabli Road station (near Viramgam) on November 9 2014, Assistant Station Master Harikesh Meena noticed some smoke coming out of a Container Goods Train passing through going from CONCOR Khodiyar Siding to Pipavav Port Siding at 4.23 pm.

RAJKOT: While performing his duty at Sabli Road station (near Viramgam) on November 9 2014, Assistant Station Master Harikesh Meena noticed some smoke coming out of a Container Goods Train passing through going from CONCOR Khodiyar Siding to Pipavav Port Siding at 4.23 pm. Showing his presence of mind and exceptional alertness, he immediately gave the ‘Stop Signal’ and accordingly train was stopped at 4.33pm at Bhaskarpara station (7 kms away from Sabli Raod station).
On thorough examination, a ‘Hot Axle’ was detected in container wagon no. 61251440410 which was subsequently detached from the Container Train.
Due to the prompt action and alertness of the Harikesh Meena, a serious rail accident could be averted. Appreciating this excellent work, Divisional Railway Manager of Rajkot Division, Vinay Babtiwale honored him by declaring on the spot cash award and a merit certificate.
