Rap for Hubballi corporation officials

November 11, 2014 06:04 pm | Updated 06:04 pm IST - HUBBALLI:

At a special council meeting called to discuss how to increase the finances of the Hubli municipal corporation, officials were sternly pulled up by irate councillors who cut across party lines.

Revenue collection was the issue. Many officials who could not give clear answers to councillors’ queries ended up being the target of their anger.

Officials of the Deputy Directorate of Town Planning were rapped for not processing building-permit and other applications for many months. The licence fees would have generated the much needed revenue for the corporation, the councillors argued.

The heated debate ended with Mayor Shivu Hiremath directing the officials to clear the pending files within a fortnight.
