Margao: ‘Dodoi’ emerged trumps defeating ‘Chaku’ in
Benaulim, while ‘Bhutia’ and ‘Rosler’ vied for the top spot in
Nuvem on Monday. A large crowd of
dhirio lovers cheered the bulls as they locked horns in fights organized at the two venues.
While the bout between Dodoi and Chaku lasted for 11 minutes before Chaku fled from the arena, Bhutia and Rosler engaged each other briefly in the fight.
The
police were unaware of the bullfights that took place as no offence was registered at the respective police stations until late Monday. People found organizing bullfights in a clandestine manner are often booked by the police under sections contained in the Prevention of Cruelty Towards Animals Act.
With the changing times, dhirio lovers are now following the banned animal sport on social networking sites as well. Regular updates on dhirio bouts are posted on Facebook pages devoted exclusively to
bullfights.
