GUWAHATI: Hundreds of fans of singer Zubeen Garg on Sunday collectively appealed to
legendry singer Jayanta Hazarika's widow
Manisha Hazarika to withdraw the legal proceedings she has initiated against Garg, after accusing him copyright violation.
Holding placards that denied Garg’s alleged misconduct of distorting Jayanta Hazarika’s songs on Sunday, fans of the
contemporary singer made an appeal to Manisha Hazarika to let Garg go ahead with releasing his album that features Jayanta Hazarika’s popular songs so that people of the state can savour them once again.
The controversy rose on Friday when Manisha, widow of the
yesteryear singer, decided to move a lower court on Friday accusing Garg of violating Jayanta Hazarika’s copyright.
“Zubeen is a
good singer but he needs to know that law of the land is supreme. We follow law and we trust the law. But Zubeen is lying. There is no other way and I cannot let this violation to continue,” said Manisha Hazarika.
But a defiant Zubeen too stated that he would go ahead with the album’s release in a week’s time and no one could stop him in doing so.
