The actress is releasing a book of poems and gearing up for Sandalwood debut

The actress who has returned to films after the birth of her first child is gearing up to release her first book of poems (in English). She is also playing her first full-fledged role in a Kannada film, Luv U Alia, directed by Indrajith Lankesh and starring Ravichandran. She spoke to Bangalore Mirror on the sets of her new film.

You are finally making your debut in Kannada..

In fact, I acted in a guest role in Upendra's Godfather two years ago. This is the first time I am playing lead role in a Kannada film. Kannada industry is very new to me, but I am glad that I have finally got an opportunity . For the first time in my career I am playing a dancer, actually a dance teacher who has a troupe of her own.

What is special about this role? Did it require any special training?

The film is about the relationship between a husband and wife and their children. It is unique in many ways. My character endures the friction of various relationships. That is why I term it unique for me. I did not have to undergo any training. I am following the instructions of the director Indrajith Lankesh to the tee. As I said, I have never had an opportunity to play such a role before. I can feel that during the shooting as well. I would have missed a good role if I did not take up this film.

Why did it take you so long to enter Sandalwood?

I have had several offers before. But blame it on time. I was immersed in work in several industries at the same time from Hindi, Tamil, Telugu to Bhojpuri. This time, everything fell in place and I am here.

How has been the experience of working with Ravichandran?

I had heard about Ravichandran from others. Now I am experiencing it first hand about the legend. He is an actor, director, writer, composer and also a producer! I always wondered how a person could do so many things and excel in all of them. I have the answer now. He is truly multi-talented. We have shot together for a few days now and I can see how cool he is. If he is on the sets, there is never a dull moment.

Indrajith too is known for his stylish films..

He is one of those rare level-headed directors I have come across. He is so cool and epitome of patience. He is very clear in his approach and there is a sense of calmness surrounding him. His frames are so artistic. There are very few like him. Maybe one or two directors in Telugu are like this. I have never seen any director who is so calm and managing things like he does.

There is a new member in your family..

Yeah, my child. He was born earlier this year. We have named him Yash. My life now revolves around him. I hardly have time for anything else. My husband Bharath is a well-known yoga trainer. For most parts of the year, he is travelling around Dubai, UAE, Mumbai and Bangalore. I have a very happy family.

We know you write. Why did you never try to write a film script?

I am an avid reader. I have interest in painting and literature. My writing is mostly confined to poetry. The anthology of my poems is around the corner.
