A unique tribute was paid to legendary Carnatic violinist Dwaram Venkata Swamy Naidu on his 121 birth anniversary by his grandson Dwaram Satyanarayana Rao by giving a solo violin concert on the Beach Road on Sunday morning.
The AIR Top Grade Staff Artiste, through his one hour recital, held the connoisseurs of Carnatic classical music in thrall.
He was accompanied by G. Venkata Rao on the mridangam.
Mr. Satyanarayana Rao literally made the instrument speak, mesmerising the audience. Many passers-by, too, stopped to listen to the concert.
The recital at sunrise, with the sound of the crashing waves in the background, was a different setting for the ‘rasikas’ of the city, secretary of Kalabharati G.R.K. Prasad (Rambabu) said at the end of the concert.
Andhra University Vice-Chancellor G.S.N. Raju and founder-president of Kalabharati C.S.N. Raju, among others, attended the 15 concert of the Indian Classical Music organised by the Tarakeswara Foundation at the open-air stage of the Hudhud-battered Rajiv Smruthi Bhavan.
Congress leader Bolisetti Satya sponsored the programme.
