Madhu Bangarappa, MLA and president of Janata Dal (Secular) State youth wing, favoured former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to lead the party in the State.
“This is my personal opinion. Along with me, a majority of the party legislators endorse my view. Mr. Kumarswamy, who is aware of the peoples problems, is capable of leading the party and strengthening it. However, the decision of the party’s core committee was final and binding,” he said, while talking to presspersons here on Sunday.
Agreeing that the party was gripped with confusion, he expressed confidence that suitable steps would be taken to overcome it. “The party workers’ base is still intact and they have full faith in the party leadership. All efforts are on to strengthen the party and regain the lost glory,” he said.
Regarding the Tirthahalli incident, he said he did not wish to comment as the inquiry was still on. He, however, felt that the inaction of the government and the manner in which the investigation was heading had left room for doubts that efforts were on to protect someone.
