10 Volunteers Join WoD Programme

Ten volunteers want to bring about social change, says Vodafone Fiji Foundation executive, Ambalika Kutty, during the $240,000 grant signing on Thursday.

She said their board of trustees endorsed the selection of the 10 World of Difference candidates to work for charity organisations, cause and communities that each was passionate about.

“The 10 candidates are from the West, North, Central and Eastern divisions and they will be working for long and short-term stream with 10 charity organisations.”

Ms Kutty said $240,000 had been set aside for the programme and all projects were linked to mobilising communities for social change.

“There is a need to empower people to make a world of difference and to satisfy aspirations for self development.”
She said these people needed positive social change and to think big and outside the box.

“We need to initiate activities that engage young people at a deeper level to channel their energies into activities that build lasting relationship and understandings.”

Ms Kutty said there was a need to reach out to a larger number of people and increase efficiency and value for resources.
