Green is the word

It’s as green and as fresh as any vegetarian restaurant can get. Bikash and his wife Nimisha Parik conceptualised and started the organic vegetarian restaurant ‘Green Theory’ a few years ago when they realised that the City doesn’t have too many options for pure vegetarians apart from ‘darshinis’ that don’t go beyond the predictable ‘idli-vada-dosa’ fare.

Talking about how they got started on the restaurant, Bikash explains, “I am a vegetarian and my mother will never go to a restaurant that serves both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. She would prefer to go to a pure vegetarian restaurant. I am sure there are many people like her but find it difficult to find such places. ‘Green Theory’ is for them.”

Bikash has crafted the menu to include dishes with a global flavour including soups, salads, sandwiches, pizzas, burgers, pastas, sizzlers, and desserts. They have an enviable range of organic tea as well. “The soups and salads are of mild flavour and they are tweaked to suit individual requirement. There are also a good choice of cheese-based dishes for those who want to indulge in it like cottage cheese sizzler which is well-cooked and seasoned with organic spices,” adds Bikash.

A perfect drink to quench your thirst would be a watermelon smoothie. “This is a combination of watermelon mixed with some bananas and milk to give a refreshing and healthy smoothie. It is literally served in a watermelon,” says Bikash Parik. The ‘Spaghetti Pasta’ in tomato garlic basil sauce is a classic pasta with fresh tomato and organic herbs.

Here, the vegetarians will never fall short of choices. The ‘vegetable Irish boxty’ is a savoury crepe stuffed with vegetables and herbs. It is topped with mushroom sauce served along with buttered vegetables and mashed potato. For those who love steaks, the ‘cottage cheese corn steak sizzler’ is a fast-moving dish. “This is our most loved sizzler with homemade cottage cheese and other veggies made into a patty served with rice, pasta and buttered vegetable in choice of sauce like pepper, Szechwan, mushroom or barbecue,” explains Nimisha Parik.

Green Theory is located on No 15, Convent Road, Richmond Town, opposite Sacred Heart Girls School. For details, call 41663836.
