The two men accused of the British backpacker murders last night insisted: “We did not kill, we did not rape, we did not steal.”

Speaking from their prison cell Zaw Linn and Win Zaw Htun categorically denied being involved in the deaths of Hannah Witheridge and David Miller.

The pair were grilled for a further seven hours by Thai Police.

They said they were innocent and demanded to be freed from prison immediately.

Brit human rights activist Andy Hall visited them in jail in Thailand.

He told the Mirror: “The men just want to get out of prison now.

“They told police during their seven hour interview yesterday they are completely innocent.

“They told me they did not kill. They did not rape. They did not steal. They said they had nothing to do with this horrendous crime.

“They applied to get out of jail today but the judge declined.

“But he told the prosecution they must complete their case in the next 12 days.

“They are adamant they had absolutely nothing to do with the deaths of Hannah and David.”

The Burmese migrants, both 21, have been charged with the murders of Hannah, 23, from Hemsby, Norfolk and David , 24, from Jersey on the Thai holiday island of Koh Tao in September.

Their arrest has sparked outrage from human rights organisations including Amnesty International.

They accused the police of torturing the Burmese pair and carrying out a botched investigation.
