Television hosts Rocky and Mayur, identified with Jai Hind with Rocky & Mayur and Highway On My Plate , are now all set to host Vital Stats of India to be aired on TV channel History TV18 this month.
In this six episode series, the duo –– who travels across different States to explore cuisines on their food show –– will be focussing on fascinating facts and figures. After interacting with experts on numbers, Rocky and Mayur will explain it to viewers through graphics which are easy to grasp yet quirky and original.
Apart from statistics, the duo will also cover a host of issues affecting people in an interesting and informative manner. This includes elections, cricket and Bollywood among other subjects.
On being asked if the audience will be able to relate to a data-based show which is deemed to be hardly entertaining, Mayur replies, “When numbers are presented in an interactive and easy-to-follow method with fun anchors, the numbers tend to actually grab your attention by telling you a story. We have to make it appealing so that people can understand and share the information about the country.” He adds, “It is a completely new format because it is data and number-driven. A large part of it is like a script where you have to talk about certain numbers and then of course we added what Rocky and I do during our shows –– our impromptu humour. India is a beautiful country, no matter what aspects you look at or what numbers, they are mindboggling and they tell you interesting stories.”
Noting that he has received interesting inputs on issues that people want to know, Rocky says, “This show is not just about statistics and facts. What we get here is an extremely helpful guide on behind-the-scenes works of these issues.”
Rocky is hopeful on the show becoming popular and explains, “The topics we have picked up are something Indians love to discuss everyday, all day.
The problem is that most people don’t have a wholesome picture of topics like cricket and Bollywood. This show will bring in full statistics which you can flaunt at the next discussion”.
The show is based on the lines of the American series The United Stats Of America but “would follow a more offbeat approach.”
