ALL KITTIED OUT: For those who want to bring their passion for Hello Kitty to their fingertips, there’s Masako Kojima’s new book, “Hello Kitty Nail Art: Step-by-Step Instructions for Creating 20 Sanrio-Themed Characters and Patterns” (Abrams, New York).
Kojima, who trained staff at the Hello Kitty Spa in Dubai, has created nail art for Sanrio characters such as Hello Kitty, My Melody, Chococat, Tuxedosam, Keroppi and Badtz-Maru. Ways to apply allover polkadots, checks, gingham, stripes and other patterns are also shown. There are closeup shots of hands with colorful nails detailed in character motifs holding such Hello Kitty items as clutches and rhinestone-bedecked mirrors or set off by backgrounds which include blueberries, strawberries, cupcakes, lollipops, macaroons, patterned wrapping paper or bright sneakers.
The directions for each nail look are painstakingly detailed, with photos showing each step. There are also more than 125 tiny, graphic nail decals fastened to the inside cover of the book.
