Abu Dhabi: Jameel Aslam stroked an unbeaten century to guide Royal Gymkhana to a resounding six-wicket triumph over Abu Dhabi Airport Technology in the Midcom President’s Cup Division 2 tournament.
The No. 4 batsman arrived at the crease with his team precariously placed at nine for two, having lost both of their openers Waseem Sarwar (2) and Mahmood Hassan (0).
Aslam featured in a couple of useful partnerships, adding 60 for the third wicket with Mohsin Abbas (11) and 81 with Humayun Gil (23) for the fourth wicket.
Asif Ghouri then hammered 34 not out off 18 balls for Gymkhana to clinch victory with an over to spare. Aslam’s 101 not out was highlighted with seven sixes and an equal number of fours.
Meanwhile, Waqas Sarwar hit a breezy 108 and Zain Butt 78 not out for MMS rental to post 232 for four and register their third win in the competition after a comfortable 97-run triumph over Blue Bulls.
