Guwahati: A militant
leader of
National Democratic Front of Boroland’s Songbijit (NDFB-S) faction was gunned down on Wednesday in a joint operation of
Kokrajhar police and
Red Horns Division troops.
The deceased, identified as
Philip Warry, was a self-styled second in command of Gossaigaon Platoon of Kokrajhar district. Warry, who had a reward of Rs 5 lakh was announced on him, was killed in the dense Ripu Reserve Forest of Kokrajhar district.
Security forces seized a huge cache of sophisticated arms and ammunition, including two pistols and two hand grenades, from the slain militant’s possession.
