VH1 has picked up “Barely Famous,” a docudrama parodying reality television from hyphenate sisters Sara and Erin Foster.
The network has ordered six half-hour episodes of the comedy set to premiere in March 2015. The Foster duo, who are the daughters of music producer David Foster, will play sisters born into the Hollywood lifestyle trying to navigate their careers and dating lives while maintaining perfect public images.
“When we sat down to come up with the concept and story behind ‘Barely Famous,’ we kept referring to shows like ‘The Larry Sanders Show,’ ‘Extras’ and ‘The Comeback’ as influences,” the Fosters said. “By design, the show pokes fun at the reality show genre as we play these stereotypical, delusional sisters who find themselves shooting a reality show, while also refusing to admit it to their friends.”
Erin Foster has written for NBC’s “The New Normal” and appeared in shows including “Reno 911!” and “The O.C.,” and is currently writing a feature film for Universal. Sara Foster has appeared as an actress in CW’s “90210” as well as “Entourage” and films including “The Big Bounce” and “D.E.B.S.”
