South Indian actor Arjun, last seen in Mani Ratnam’s Kadal, returns as producer, director and actor with Jai Hind 2.

Made in three languages (Tamil, Telegu and Kannada) on a budget of Rs200 million (Dh11.9 million), the film is dedicated to former President of India Abdul Kalam and his dreams about India becoming a superpower, said Arjun.

“All my earlier movies, including Gentleman and Mudhalvan, spoke about social maladies and the need to fight them. Jai Hind 2 focuses on the education system prevalent in India today and its flaws,” he added.

At the audio launch ceremony of the film held in Chennai, Arjun honoured the family of Major Mukund Varadarajan, who died fighting militants in Kashmir this year.

Varadarajan’s three-year-old daughter Arshea released the audio of Jai Hind 2 at the Hyderabad audio ceremony, where CNN Hero Narayanan Krishnan of Akshaya Trust, an NGO in Madurai, was honoured.

Surveen Chawla romances Arjun onscreen, her second film with him after Moondru Paer Moondru Kadhal.

While the story is written by Arjun, Gopi Krishna has written the dialogue.
