MUMBAI: Chandigarh-based photographer Nisheeth Bhatt opened his exhibition titled 'The Melted Core' at Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai on Tuesday. The weeklong show from November 4-10 was inaugurated by actress Gul Panag.
Bhatt says he is inspired by "picturesque, scenic and quaint places" and chooses to capture "serene, detailed and majestic views" of the landscape.
He once made the most of a five-hour flight delay to shoot the melting snow as it formed a lake in the centre of a barren mountain range. His current exhibition draws its title from this image.
He says, "The camera has been my constant and faithful companion through my extensive travels. I have visited the Great Wall of China, seen Scottish castles, the streets of Lahore and the squares of London, indeed Siachen Glacier and Andaman. I believe that photography is the only language that is understood across the world. For me, it is the language of love. Through this show, I want to bring people closer to the bounties of Nature. I want to share with them the breathtakingly beautiful sights that I saw.''
Bhatt had earlier held two successful shows named 'Anavarit' at India Habitat Center, New Delhi, and 'The Nude Tree' at the Government Art Gallery & Museum, Chandigarh.
