BHOPAL: A father of four minor girls strangled his youngest daughter to death at Bamnore town in Morena district on Monday night, sending shock waves among residents of the area.
The accused, Raghuvir Jatav, 35, was arrested on complaint of his wife Rajkumari for allegedly strangulating Muskaan, 4.
"His wife told us that they had a quarrel and subsequently she moved out of the room where the two were sitting leaving Muskaan in care of Raghuveer.
On her return, she found her dead," SP Morena Navneet Bhasin told TOI.
"He is an alcoholic. The woman also informed us the accused would fight with her every day," Bhasin said. "As of now he has been arrested and investigations are on," he said.
On October 11, in neighbouring Bhind district a four-day-old infant girl was tossed out of a vehicle on Gwalior-Etawah highway in Bhind district survived after swift action by employees of a gas agency, who spotted her.
Bhind and Morena districts gained notoriety for skewed sex ratio. With just 837 females per 1000 males, Bhind has worst sex ratio in Madhya Pradesh, followed closely by Morena, which has a sex ratio of 840.
